Blueprint
Installation (sound & wooden construction) for Vrijstaat O, Ostend (BE) 27 Mar – 3 May 2009 in Villa la Tourelle. In collaboration with Hans Demeulenaere & Edith Doove
All architecture is alive. Starting from this given visual artist Hans Demeulenaere and sound artist Esther Venrooy build a spatial installation in an impressive vacant mansion from the belle époque in Ostend. Architectural and acoustic qualities of the house are analysed to be reconstructed and transposed to other floors in the building. In their collaboration the artists try to achieve a synergy of architecture and sound that should above all be suggestive and poetic. Aspects like the memory of, staying in en moving through the space add to a both subjective, physical and mental experience of this unique house. (Text: Edith Doove)
